Director: Emerald Fennell.
I really enjoyed watching Promising Young Woman. I think the screenplay is well written and the characters are interesting.
Clancy Brown & Jennifer Coolidge make for a good couple and I wanted to see more of them.
Laverne Cox plays a background character which was forgettable, unfortunately.
The film dives deeply into moral questions of guilt, revenge and chauvinism. It's not taking itself too seriously, and has a lot of good dark comedy and camp.
Things I didn't like about it are the main characters and their love story, cinematography, some cliche feminist moments.
There is also a thick layer of systematic white supremacy wrapping the entire film. If you ever wished to have a case study about the nuances of privilege within the upper middle class of white America, this is the film for you.
Verdict: 3.5 / 5 ★ - Nice.
